We are looking for a Mitigation Manager to help retain customers by fulfilling McCardel Restoration's contractual obligations through the timely completion of our cleaning and construction services.
McCardel Restoration was established in 2002 and has been serving the greater Lansing area and surrounding communities for the past 20 years, assisting residential and commercial property owners with remediation and reconstruction after weather and event-driven disasters.
Job Purpose
This individual will be overseeing and directing property mitigation projects from conception to completion by directing and managing your team. Facilitate the timely and profitable delivery of all services while maintaining company standards for quality and customer satisfaction. Oversee all onsite and offsite cleaning and construction to monitor compliance with building safety and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Be the First Responder: Go out to emergencies during hours and participate in the on-call rotation. Answer afterhours calls and respond swiftly to emergencies, bringing calm, structure, and leadership to chaotic situations.
- Own the Plan: Create clear, detailed scopes of work for property owners, estimators, and response teams, ensuring everyone is aligned from day one.
- Lead the Project Life Cycle: Oversee jobs from emergency mitigation to final reconstruction—updating stakeholders and systems at every stage.
- Budget & Scope: Build and manage project budgets, scopes of work, and any change orders—ensuring profitability while maintaining transparency.
- Drive Team Success: Coordinate office staff and field crews with clear schedules, direction, and support, keeping everyone moving forward.
- Apply Your Expertise: Use your working knowledge of construction methods—including drywall, cabinetry, flooring, plumbing, roofing, and more—to support field teams and solve problems on the spot.
- Coach & Mentor: Help team members improve through on-the-job training, regular 1:1s, and performance feedback—recognizing wins and addressing gaps.
- Work with Trusted Partners: Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors. Oversee their work for quality and timeliness.
- Collaborate on Estimates: Support Estimators by providing accurate breakdowns of labor, materials, and scope details based on real field conditions.
- Keep Projects Compliant: Obtain required building permits and ensure all work meets local codes and licensing requirements.
- Negotiate for Results: Secure labor and materials that meet quality expectations and project goals—while protecting margin targets.
- Maintain Tools of the Trade: Oversee use, care, and maintenance of company tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Champion Safety: Lead by example and reinforce a strong safety culture on every job site.
- Support Growth: Assist in training new hires and delivering ongoing technical development for field staff.
- Anticipate Labor Needs: Work closely with the Production Manager to forecast labor needs and ensure team coverage.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in supervisor or project manager role on Mitigation Team
- IICRC certification in WRT, AMRT, ASD required
- FRST, and TCST certification preferred
- Xactimate knowledge preferred
- Must live within 30 minutes of corporate office in East Lansing or be willing to relocate.
- Advanced knowledge of construction management processes and materials.
- Familiarity with DASH (job management software), Microsoft Suite, and SharePoint.
- Excellent time and project management skills.
- Ability to strategize and see the “big picture.”
- Leadership and human resources management skills.
- Competent in conflict and crisis management.
